The trailer for HBO’s new adaption of Philip Roth’s The Plot Against America is here, and there’s no shortage of Fascists and Nazis.

Roth’s 2004 novel paints an alternative version of the United States in which pilot Charles Lindbergh defeats Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1940 presidential election, aligning the country with Nazi Germany. While the real Lindbergh never ran for president, the tale takes its premise from Lindbergh’s well-documented support of Nazi Germany and his active role as spokesperson for the anti-war/nativist America First Movement, as well as a tendency toward anti-semitism.

The Plot Against America traces Lindbergh’s political rise through the point of view of a Jewish family from New Jersey. HBO’s adaptation stars Morgan Spector and Zoe Kazan as Herman and Elizabeth Levin, with Azhy Robertson and Caleb Malis playing their sons, Philip and Sandy. Winona Rider plays Elizabeth’s sister, Evelyn, whose marriage to the conservative Rabbi Lionel Bengelsdorf (played by John Turturro) raises tensions as Lindbergh’s rise fuels anti-semitic attacks.

From executive producers David Simon and Ed Burns — the team behind The Wire — The Plot Against America premieres on HBO March 16th at 9 PM. Watch the full tailer below.
