It seems like only yesterday Felicity Huffman began her prison term for her role in the college admissions scandal. Actually, it was 11 days ago, and Huffman is now being released from her two-week sentence a few days early.
The actress was released from the low-security federal prison in Northern California on Friday, NBC News reported. Huffman began serving her 14-day sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California on October 15.
Huffman was reportedly set to be released on Sunday according to prison records, which would have been the 13th day of her sentence. According to NBC News, her early Friday release is consistent with normal practice for inmates set to be released on weekends.
Huffman was also ordered to pay a fine of $30,000 and perform 250 hours of community service when she was sentenced last month. Court documents reportedly show that she has paid the fine. The actress was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani after pleading guilty to charges related to paying to have her daughter’s SAT scores doctored.
Still facing charges in the Operation Varsity Blues scheme are fellow actress Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli. Loughlin and Giannulli have pleaded not guilty to money laundering and conspiracy charges, and were hit Tuesday with new charges of conspiracy to commit federal program bribery in a third indictment.
