Her parents called her Norma Jean. America called her Marilyn.
We just call her gorgeous.
Hard not to when you’re looking at MARILYN: The Lost Photographs of a Hollywood Star, a collection of never-before-seen candid snaps of The Blonde Bombshell opening tonight at SUMO Gallery in Tribeca.
The previously unreleased shots – one box of which was uncovered after a California earthquake – come from a bevy of Hollywood shutterbugs, including Monroe’s personal makeup artist and the cinematographer on The Misfits.
She’s lounging impossibly long-legged on lawn furniture.
She’s standing against scenic vistas looking like a real life Swiss Miss.
She’s posing in a red top that’s struggling oh-so-mightily to contain a peek-a-boo mansion of bliss.
And kicking it with Robert Mitchum, naturally.
The exhibit runs through Saturday and should be checked out by anyone with an appreciation for one of America’s foxiest icons in her dazzling prime.
Check out the online gallery to get a sneak peek.
We knew you were the Marilyn type.
