Sean Spicer called working as President Trump’s press secretary the “honor of a lifetime” in a final email to White House staff, according to Fox News. His resignation was first reported on July 21, but Spicer said he would serve throughout August.
“I especially want to thank the President and the First Lady for their support during my tenure and for giving me this opportunity. Walking into the White House every day is a privilege that few in our country experience and I am grateful for it,” Spicer reportedly wrote.
Known for sparring with the media, Spicer also thanked the communications team, saying he wouldn’t have been able to do his job without their assistance.
He added: “As I sign off this email address for a final time, I want to say thanks. I am proud to have worked with each and every one of you.”
