‘Blade Runner 2049’ Predicted to Have $40 Million Early Opening
Box office forecasts for Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford blockbuster looking 'It'-esque.

If Pennywise, killer clown of It fame, set the tone for Hollywood’s big post-summer comeback, the early box office forecast for Blade Runner 2049 should have execs popping some premature bubbly.
According to Variety, the sequel to the 1982 cult-classic is expected to scare up as much as $40 million in opening weekend revenue. Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on Oct. 6.
Though some recent blockbusters, starring Hollywood heavyweights, have tanked of late, the star-power quotient for 2049 will likely buoy it—even send it to the stratosphere: The movie features Star Wars‘ now-dead Han Solo, Harrison Ford, whose carried many a blockbuster on his shoulders in his day (see: Air Force One, The Fugitive); as well as two-time Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling (he of La La Land); Oscar-winner Jared Leto; and House of Cards‘ Robin Wright.
Not to mention that sci-fi geeks have literally been waiting 35 years for this. It’s the perfect storm of geekdom.
