The Middle Seat Looks a Lot Cooler, More Comfortable as a Duffel Bag

Plane: Travel accessories made out of ... travel accessories

July 13, 2016 9:00 am

You know that airplane seat you hate for being too small, too scratchy, too stupid?

British duo Ben and Harry Tucker, of luxury travel accessories line Plane, have a solution.

And by “make it better,” we mean “refashion it into something entirely different.”

Plane takes out-of-service airplane textiles and upcycles them into sleek travel accessories: backpacks, duffle bags, phone cases and more. In other words: a serious upgrade.

Our choice is the laptop sleeve, with its leather features and navy fabric — which suggests, but does not trumpet, the fabric’s workaday past cushioning the bodies of thousands of travelers.

In any case, we’re happy to find these fabrics (in their fully reworked forms) on Kickstarter — rather than in landfills, which is where the Tuckers found them.
