The Cheapest Tesla on the Market Is Their New Phone Charger

It's powered by the same stuff as their Model S

Last week, Tesla made headlines by revealing not only an electric semi truck with the ability to roam 500 miles on a single charge, but also a roadster with a top speed of more than 250 MPH.

We’re not sure how it flew under the radar, but it turns out that Tesla also released — drumroll please — a phone charger.

Ok. so it’s not as exciting as a game-changing truck or the world’s fastest production car, but the Tesla Powerbank makes the company’s tech more widely available to the everyman, and that’s us, so we are excited.

Powered by a single 18650 battery cell with 3350 mAh capacity — the same cell which is used to power the Tesla Model S and X vehicles — the Powerbank is compatible with iPhones, iPads, or any other device that uses a microUSB. (Obviously, the S and X are powered by thousands of cells as opposed to just one.)

The battery is designed to look like a miniature supercharger station and has a max output of five volts. Priced at $45, the Powebank is expensive for a phone charger — but pretty cheap for a Tesla.
