One InsideHook editor recently took a day off to get a sofa delivered and assembled.

“That was a pleasant and productive experience,” he lied.

Don’t lose an entire day to furniture when there’s a host of new companies that can furnish your home in minutes. Plus, these online brands and services tend to have lower prices, better design and a more eco-conscious ethos than your typical big-box store. And while we love Casper, Burrow, etc., this time out, we looked for newer brands and ones with unique selling points.

Without further ado, here’s how to quickly outfit your home with a new …

Bed: Based in Brooklyn, the just launched Slash/Bed is a sustainable natural wood queen-sized bed frame folds out and assembles in minutes. A headboard will be available shortly, but you can already order it with an Emma memory-foam mattress-in-a-box.

Elephant in a Box

Sofa: Newcomer Elephant in a Box is a foldable sofa that assembles (and disassembles) in three minutes using a “honeycomb” technology that can hold 400 times its weight; it arrives in one lightweight box. Currently on preorder, available in August.

Dims

Tables (and bar cart): Dims is a line of “new-century modern” furniture that’s handsome, sneakily versatile and decidedly unique — each piece is a collaboration with a different design studio around the globe. And all of it takes about a minute or two to build, no tools necessary.

Floyd

Desk: Detroit furniture upstart Floyd has an elegant, minimalist desk that assembles in two minutes with zero tools. The surface is made of birch and finished off in linoleum, making for a charming modern perch that scores high marks for both durability and aesthetics. (BTW, Floyd’s stripped-down aesthetic and wide range of furniture offerings means they could pretty much furnish your entire home, if you wish.)

Feather

Entire home on a moment’s notice: Feather is a membership service — you can choose individual items or curated room packages and “rent” your furniture for short periods of time for a monthly fee (note: those fees go toward the buyout of each item). The convenience here, besides a flat-rate fee for swapping out chairs, sofas, etc. on a whim and not clogging up landfills with used junk, is access to same-day delivery and setup. Currently available in NY, SF, LA and the OC.

Modsy

Dream home: Modsy lets you virtually furnish your home before you buy or even lift a finger. Just snap a few photos, take some room measurements, fill out a Style Quiz and designers will come back with custom plans for your room (in 3D), filled with instantly shoppable furniture from brands like West Elm, Crate & Barrel and Pier 1. The delivery and setup may take a bit (depending on the furniture you choose), but if planning is your major hurdle to buying a bed or sofa, start here.
