Thieves are always looking for the next best thing to steal: Whether it’s your identity or a color patent, the objective is almost always money. And according to Eater‘s Matthew Sedacca, this extends also to the large-scale food business—not some kid pilfering a doughnut from the local supermarket. Per the author: “A large draw to boosting food is that the stakes, compared to other stolen goods, are extremely low. Unlike money or electronics that have serial codes, it’s difficult to trace food that has been stolen.” Learn more about the stolen food market here.
