Jaguar Now Holds the Title of Fastest Four-Door Car in the World

Watch it obliterate the Nürburgring lap record by 11 seconds

At the legendary Nürburgring racing track in Germany, 11 seconds can feel like an eternity.

Just ask Belgian driver Vincent Radermacker, who — in a four-door Jaguar XE SV Project 8 — lapped the racetrack in seven minutes and 22 seconds, smashing the previously held record by 11 seconds. The lap time makes the Jag the fastest production-ready sedan to ever lap the ‘Ring.

Relying on a supercharged V8 engine and an eight-speed transmission, the XE SV Project 8 — which does 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds and tops out at 200 mph — ripped off a blistering lap time to claim the title.

“SVO exists to push the boundaries of performance, luxury and all-terrain capability,” said JLR Special Vehicle Ops managing director John Edwards. “The hand-assembled XE SV Project 8 takes that principle to the limit, extracting supercar-beating performance from Jaguar’s most compact four-door sedan. The Nürburgring Nordschleife record underlines our commitment to deliver the most extreme Jaguar ever to Project 8 clients, who will soon experience this sensational sedan for themselves.”

Yep, you read that correctly. What Edwards is saying is Jaguar is making production models of the XE SV Project 8 — 30 of them to be exact. If you’ve got $188,495 in the bank, you might be able to get one, but, appropriately, they’re sure to be going fast.
