Last summer, the British beachwear specialists at Orlebar Brown launched a line of official James Bond swim trunks. We called them “just wonderful,” which — in a world where men’s swimwear is a choice between monochromatic or the American flag — they most certainly are.
If we’re being honest, though, there was one little problem: the whole point of James Bond is that people want to be him. (I for one certainly think it’d be a good bar trick to drink Scotch while balancing a deadly scorpion on my hand.) So wouldn’t you rather look like Bond than wear his likeness on your trunks?
Orlebar Brown must have thought the same thing, because they recently released an entire collection featuring recreations of Bond’s most iconic beach looks. And for those who aren’t keen on Daniel Craig’s interpretation of the spy, you’re in luck — these are all pulled from vintage 007, including Roger Moore, Sean Connery and even one-hit-wonder George Lazenby.
Above is the safari jacket Bond donned for a meeting with Scaramanga in The Man With the Golden Gun, but the more sun-and-sand friendly items include a pair of “antique pink” shorts worn on a date with Domino in Thunderball and the robe worn by both Bond and Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) in Dr. No. Wouldn’t want to leave the lady out of your secret-agent cosplay.
