As a free agent, LeBron James has a big decision to make: Where to play next? His decision is likely to shake up the NBA again, so ESPN looked at the most likely options of where the King could find his throne:
Boston Celtics: The Celtics almost defeated the Cavs and that was without injured stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. The team is the future of the Eastern Conference and can compete at championship level.
Cleveland Cavaliers: He left once before and came back, so it is possible the King will try to win another title at home.
Golden State Warriors: The NBA has never seen a team as powerful as one that had Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James. But would James want to make a move that would cast him as the NBA’s biggest villain?
Houston Rockets: He would be united with Chris Paul and has the possibility of bringing Dwayne Wade with him on a minimum salary should Wade decide to leave Miami. Paul, James and MVP front-runner James Harden would be a tough trio to beat.
Los Angeles Clippers: The Clippers could be a better alternative than the Lakers, thanks to James’s relationship with Clippers front-office consultant Jerry West, who James calls “The Godfather.”
Los Angeles Lakers: James has a second home in Los Angeles and a budding production company. Plus the Lakers are the only team that could promise James he wouldn’t be the only superstar coming on board this summer.
Philadelphia 76ers: He would be teaming up with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, which is a similar move to when James went from Miami to Cleveland and traded a pair of aging stars in Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh for younger counterparts in Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Simmons and James also already share an agent, so why not.
