Adidas Just Rolled Out a Lighter, Quicker, Sweat-Wicking-er Stan Smith

The world's greatest tennis shoe is ready for the 21st century

Whether bulked up for winter or slimmed down for summer, the basic design of the Stan Smith has remained relatively unchanged: three perforated stripes, two colors, one smiling mustachioed visage. All three of those components remain intact for the latest redesign of their most famous sneaker, but they’ve punched things up with a couple contemporary flourishes.

As its name would suggest, the Stan Smith Boost Primeknit has an upper crafted from woven Primeknit fabric instead of leather, and a rubber-sole unit filled with Boost foam cushioning.

Available with either green or navy accents on the heel and tongue, the shoes are a fresh take on a 46-year-old silhouette that didn’t need an upgrade. That said, we’re cool with Adidas rolling the dice and adding Boost interiors and Primeknit outers to create a brand new triple threat, and a handsome one at that.

The kicks have yet to drop stateside, but they’re available right here for $160 — though not for long.
