When you rise and shine each morning, it’s important that your beloved downstairs neighbor does the same.

We're talking, of course, about morning wood. Alarm cocks. The ol' matutinal erection.

Because according to NYU Center for Men’s Health medical director Dr. Steven Lamm, a man's ability to pop a daily wake-up stiffy is one of the greatest indicators of his overall health, from cardiovascular functions to hormonal balance to his reproductive well-being.

To help you keep track, men’s health startup Roman (which has produced some funny and worthwhile work in the past) created a  gamified app for the iOS called Morning Glory that helps guys monitor their “boner streak.” While the app is meant to be fun, the medical science behind it is legit, and Roman is serious about the wellness implications of waking up with — or without — a soldier at attention.

As told by Lamm in an in-app preview, “If you’re experiencing a diminished erection, it’s often the first sign of a far more serious condition that could be brewing. Think of ED as the man’s equivalent to a car’s check engine light.”

“People know boners can be funny,” Roman CEO Zachariah Reitano tells us. “Now hopefully they can be useful.”

So download the app and start stacking that wood. Just try not to be a mantapper.
