These days, you don’t need a watch.

So when you do wear one, that timepiece is even more of a statement than it once was. Tells people what you value, and why.

For those who value rugged gear that’s made in the USA: Filson’s first watch collection, a collab with Detroit’s Shinola, available starting today.

For the uninitiated, Filson was born during the late-19th-century Yukon and Colorado gold rushes.

If you saw the handsome Bixby bicycle they built with Shinola last year, you know what kind of quality to expect.

To wit: all made in the USA, all handsome and starting at a modest $625. The timepieces come in two case styles:

The Mackinaw Field
A field watch on steroids. Available in both three-hand and chronograph versions. Screw-down crown, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 43mm case and a water-resistant, scuba-safe 20 ATM.

The Journeyman
For the traveling man. Available as a GMT and chronograph, both featuring a world timer on the top ring. And a crown modeled after a shotgun shell.

Straps: crafted from bridle leather and dry tin cloth — the same materials used in Filson’s bags and garments — along with nylon, rubber and Horween leather.

All guaranteed for life. Get one.
