A backpack is only good as the company that makes it, a wise man once said.
And if it’s a bag for traveling the world you seek, you won’t do much better than the Allpa, the latest offering from outdoor gear and apparel maker Cotopaxi.
With more pockets than a pool hall, the Allpa features a suitcase-style main compartment accessible via a full-wrap zipper as well as a large zippered mesh compartment on the right side of the pack and a subdivided zippered mesh compartment on the left. Add in a padded laptop sleeve and included rain cover, and you’ve got a bag that can roll with the punches.
Made from weatherproof materials, the rugged pack has 35 liters of space to play with, so as long as you don’t pack like Princess Vespa, you can load this sucker up for at least a fortnight on the road. Equipped with a low-profile harness system that distributes weights evenly to help you take a load off, the carry-on-compatible pack is made to be carried on your back, but can also be held by one of its four reinforced handles.
But it gets better.
Cotopaxi’s tagline, “Gear for Good,” is more than a slogan: the four-year-old company has instilled charity into its business model and annually gives 2% of its revenue to alleviate poverty by donating to groups like Fundación Escuela Nueva and the International Rescue Committee. Available on Indiegogo for $130, the Allpa should be ready to rumble by this July.
