We all knew there was no way he was really dead, and after killing off their longtime mascot Mr. Peanut in an earlier ad, Planters revealed during the Super Bowl that the top hat-wearing icon lives on.
The Super Bowl ad sees Wesley Snipes delivering a eulogy for the dandy nut at a funeral attended by other noted salesmen like Mr. Clean and the Kool Aid Man. But rather than busting through the wall and yelling “Oh yeahhhhh,” the big red pitcher of liquid shed a tear for his fallen comrade. His tear landed on the patch of earth where Mr. Peanut was buried, which somehow caused the legume to be resurrected as…a baby nut? Making dolphin noises?
There’s no use questioning the science behind it. Perhaps trying to ride the coattails of Baby Yoda, Planters was quick to get #babynut (a cursed hashtag if ever there was one) trending, changing Mr. Peanut’s twitter display name to “Baby Nut” as well.
You can watch the miraculous moment where Mr. Peanut comes back to life below.
