Earlier in the summer, Under Armour dropped one of the first “sport” masks capable of limiting air droplet transmission when you’re working out. A ton of performance tech went into it. The brand cycled through multiple prototypes before settling on “hyper-breathable polyurethane open-cell foam” (which is science-speak for a mask you can actually run in).
Naturally, once the exercising public caught wind of the mask, it sold out almost immediately. Public health officials have concluded that it’s safer while running or biking along a crowded track or trail to wear a mask, and as health clubs have reopened, they’ve required members to wear masks. There was always going to be a market for sports masks, and UA — which made its name on moisture-wicking material — has struggled to keep its mask in stock.
But it’s officially available again as of this week. And this time around, UA also dropped three new colors. In addition to the original black colorway, you can now pick it up in gray, navy and red. The SPORTMASK is washable for continued, long-term use, features a layer of UA’s Iso-Chill fabric, which is meant to keep it cool against the skin, and comes in five different sizes.
