If The North Face’s goal was to make camping essentials that are really easy to pick out of a lineup with their latest Homestead Collection drop … job well done.
The tents, packs and sleeping bags range from colorful to downright kooky. Suffice to say, birders will be pleased.
In addition to the fun styles, the lineup arrives at an approachable price point while maintaining the toughness you’ll need while to hack it in the hinterlands.
Below, a few of our favorites. And be sure to check out the full collection here.
Twin 40/4
A 40-degree synthetic sleeping bag with some psychedelic vibes. This is an ideal option for warm-weather months, both in construction and aesthetic. That it was insulated from 30% post-consumer recycled material doesn’t hurt, either.
Domey 3
Sleeps three, fully waterproof, comes with a mesh ceiling to encourage Big Dipper-searching and is just to begging to be nicknamed the “Bird Cage.” There’s a fine line between tacky and tasteful, and this tent is in the right, ahem, camp.
Roadtripper Pack
The paint-palette pattern here is a bit tamer, and for good reason, as it’ll inevitably pull a shift as your gym bag or overnighter. This pack offers a ton of interior depth for layered packing, while keeping things simple on the exterior. Not to mention, those metal latches double as bottle openers.
