Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of it. Today: Retrospec’s inflatable kayaks scream summer fun, One of These Days drops a new cowboy-heavy collection and affordable Swatch x Omega Speedmaster makes waves in the watch community.

Swatch

Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch

Mission to Mars is no longer just a 2000 Brian De Palma film, it’s now the name of one of the 11 watches in the completely unexpected MoonSwatch line. Unexpected for two reasons: Omega has allowed Swatch to co-opt its most recognizable timepiece (the Speedmaster Professional, or Moonwatch); and the final product is…actually stellar. Each design is inspired by a celestial object — the eight planets in our solar system, dwarf-planet Pluto, the Sun or the Moon — and all come in at just $260. You can’t buy them online, but they’re available now in select Swatch stores.

Firestone Walker Brewing Company

Firestone Walker Hopnosis

What are Cryo Hops? They’re the secret behind this double dry-hopped IPA. The brewery says the process includes “collecting the concentrated lupulin from whole-leaf hops, which contains the pure resins for bitterness and aromatic oils.” The hops here hail from both New Zealand and the U.S. Pacific Northwest, and the result of all this is a beer that features notes of mango, passionfruit, white grape and lychee.

Todd Snyder

Todd Snyder Montauk Swim Short

Todd Snyder’s wares are a no-brainer for fall (see: L.L. Bean collabs), winter (see: my go-to wool topcoat) and spring (see: the suede Dylan Jacket, which the designer cites as a summation of his aesthetic). Now with the Montauk Swim Short, he’s finally ready to style your entire summer, too. It’s the brand’s first proprietary swimwear, but in true Todd style the elastic-waist suit is available in 12 different styles to suit your personal style.

Retrospec

Retrospec Inflatable Kayaks

Gone are the days when spending time on the water meant hauling a kayak, SUP or boat to the local beach. Now we simply break out inflatable alternatives, like the Coaster series from Retrospec, that fill with air in a matter of minutes and provide plenty of comfort by way of snap-in seats, rigging points and legroom to spare. Pick up the single-seater for solo adventures or upgrade to the two-person model that’s got room for you and your partner, friend or canine companion. Don’t forget the lifevests on the way out!

Session Surrealism Collection

Cannabis culture has done the same boho-chic, free-spirited theme to death, but such predictable reiteration encourages change, which is why Session’s latest Surrealism Collection has renewed our interest in all-things weed. Drawing inspiration from the world’s most prolific surrealists and our imaginations, bongs, pipes and accessories are thoughtfully designed and injected with various colors to refine this once-formulaic industry.

Bulgari

Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra

You’re not likely to ever lay your hands on Bulgari’s new Octo Finissimo Ultra, which was unveiled this week as a limited-edition run of 10 watches each coming in around $440,000. But if you did, you’d hardly be able to recognize it as a watch. That’s because this new horological wonder has claimed the title as the world’s thinnest mechanical watch at just 1.8 mm thick, which lies somewhere between the thickness of a quarter and a half dollar coin. If you want to experience ultra-thin watchmaking that’s not ultra-exclusive, peruse the rest of their Octo Finissimo collection.

Mike’s Hard Freeze

The ‘90s have come for our hard seltzers now. Mike’s Hard Freeze is the latest offering from the malt liquor brand largely known for its boozy lemonade and boasts four throwback flavors — Blue Freeze, Red Freeze, White Freeze and Pink Freeze — that taste identical to the slushies you’d get from 7/11 on a hot summer day when you were just a wee lad. If you’re looking for a sip of nostalgia, Mike is your guy.

One Of These Days Co. Gone Tomorrow Ashtray

When Los Angeles-based Matthew McCormick announced One Of These Days Co, we were thrilled at the prospect of the multimedia artist’s Americana-themed designs adorning more than just a canvas. We have not been disappointed; scenes straight out of a spaghetti western splash everything from tees to totes. We find this ashtray especially good, whether or not your smoke like…well, like a cowboy.
