Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of them. Today: an impossibly difficult puzzle, a care package for your feet and Air Max 2090s
Adidas Americana Hi Shoes
For the latest iteration of the adidas Americana Hi style, the brand’s familiar three stripes have been replaced with simple lettering on the side. The sneaker still retains its original silhouette and remains reminiscent of the ‘70s era in which it was born, but with an overall cleaner look.
Rowing Blazers x Slim Aarons
We are fully on board with this collaboration between the new-school preps at For their latest collaboration, Rowing Blazers partnered with the estate of the iconic American photographer, Slim Aarons. Aarons predominantly photographed socialites and celebrities, and the world of excess and leisure they inhabited. The collaboration sees these images and scenes of wealth, ease and beauty printed on short sleeve shirts and hoodies, in a range of bright colors that pay homage and mimic the vibrant scenes depicted in Aarons’ work. While you might not be on the beaches of St. Tropez, or observing a game of polo in Palm Beach, you can at the very least feel like you are.
Todd Snyder x Timex Liquor Store Watch in Olive
Our old pals are at it again with another watch collab, naming this one after the iconic NYC menswear outpost Todd Snyder swiped from J.Crew. There are some elements we’ve seen before and are glad to welcome back (21 jewel automatic movement, domed acrylic crystal), as well as new touches (matte ecru dial, olive fabric and leather strap) that took us by surprise.
Sperry Cloud Madras Collection
What better way to get yourself in the mood for summer — suffice to say spring has been a bit of a bummer — than with a bran new collection from Sperry featuring madras prints on some of their most classic silhouettes. The CVO deck sneaker will be the easiest of the bunch to pull off, but don’t sleep on the Authentic Original lug sole boat shoe or the chukka, either.
Flint and Tinder High Desert Capsule Collection
This new capsule collection from Flint and Tinder has some major vintage safari vibes. The High Desert collection features timeless, heritage-style field jackets and utility shirts in earth-tone shades, along with 365 Pants and 1-Year Wash jeans — so you can look the part in your backyard safari.
Puzzle Impossible
Looks like people have really upped their puzzle game, as this impossibly difficult clear jigsaw puzzle from Etsy shop LittleFlowerPotShop has sold out. But you can still pre-order the puzzle for June shipping (cause you might need something to do in the summer).
WFH Care Package by Koio
Koio has bundled the Everyday Slipper — a heat-exchanging, moisture-wicking sheep-wool slipper (to keep your feet cozy not sweaty) — with a pair of retro-looking “WFH” tube socks for the ultimate work from home care package — for your feet!
Marlin Hand-Wound 34mm Leather Strap Watch
Two Timex watches in one week? Hey, we don’t set the release dates, OK? You’ve probably seen the Marlin Hand-Wound before as it’s been out for a few years, and we’ve been wearing the silver-faced original edition since then, but this week they rolled out new blue and green models, both paired with brown leather straps. Even if you don’t get one yourself, this is good news; Timex is putting its resources into its archival arm, so hopefully more resurrected timepieces are on the way.
Bellroy Red Earth Collection
This Aussie brand just released an array of tech pouches, slings, RFID-protected wallets, backpacks and more in a cool red colorway, with all the fabrics and linings crafted from 100% recycled PET plastic bottles. Go save the planet, handsome.
Nike Air Max 2090
I’m admittedly a little Air-Max obsessed, and the Air Max 90 is my favorite of the entire family. It ranks among legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield’s greatest accomplishments and has continued to enjoy unprecedented cultural relevance 30 years after its release. Many would say (and understandably so) that to update it would be heresy. Lucky for us Nike never listens to those people, because I believe their newest release is about as perfect a re-imagining of an iconic shoe as you’re gonna see.
The 2090’s design cues pay proper homage to the original — the iconic mudguard/cropped swoosh, the distinctive “cassette” surrounding the air unit (which, incidentally was originally inspired by the aerodynamic lines of Italian sports cars of the era) and the classic heel logo are all in place, albeit elegantly tweaked. The heavier changes speak to me as well — the updated silhouette is similar to that of the Air Max 270 (IMO the best new shoe Nike has put out in the last decade), and the technique of color blocking that made the original AM90 so popular has been expressed via a cool method of opacity whereby the most supportive materials that make up the shoe’s structure are 100% opaque and the lighter weight materials on top are more see-through. Neat technique, looks great. And thus concludes my extremely long-winded/overwrought/nerdy way of saying that you should buy a pair of Air Max 2090s because they are dope AF.
