Nike’s running shoe tech has come a long way since Bill Bowerman was pouring urethane into a waffle maker.
The Joyride Dual Run, which the brand released last year, is infused with 8,000 small thermoplastic elastomer beads, which disperse impact across the feet. The idea is to ease the stress of long miles run on unrelenting concrete roads, for runners to feel like they’re pressing down on a bed of bubbles. By Nike’s own admission, the shoes offer 14% better shock absorption than its bestselling running sneakers (like the Air Zoom Pegasus 36).
The revolutionary sneaker is currently discounted $50 in three specific colorways, and $65 in one colorway, with surprisingly decent sizing throughout. These styles might be a bit more out there than you’re used to (think Hot Punch/Glacier Ice as opposed to Black/Grey) but for a sneaker sale this good you just have to embrace it.
