With more than half of a season left to play, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp has already scored seven more touchdowns than he did last season and is just 50 yards shy of matching his yardage total of 974.

Currently leading the NFL with 924 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches this season, Kupp is the first receiver with 900 yards and 10 touchdowns in his team’s first eight games of the season since Jerry Rice in 1990. And, if he keeps it up, he’s on track for more than 130 catches, 20 touchdowns and close to 2,000 yards.

In five October games, Kupp caught 38 passes for 557 yards with five touchdowns and finished off the month with three consecutive games of at least 100 receiving yards. In recognition of that performance, Kupp was named the NFC’s offensive player of the month for a second consecutive time.

Leading the NFL in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, Kupp is second in receiving first downs (41) and has caught 70% of his targets from quarterback Matthew Stafford this season, including 14-of-20 looks in the red zone.

In addition to Rice and Kupp, Don Hutson (1942), Raymond Berry (1951) and Elroy “Crazy Legs” Hirsch (1960) are the only NFL wideouts to go for at least 900 yards and 10 touchdowns through the season’s first eight games. Rice, Hutson, Berry and Hirsch are all in the Hall of Fame. While Kupp isn’t Canton-bound yet, he may be if he keeps it up.

In the AFC, running back Jonathan Taylor of the Colts took home Offensive Player of the Month honors after rushing for 478 yards and averaging 6.1 yards a carry as well as snagging 13 catches for 195 yards with seven total touchdowns in five October games.
