While it may feel like there’s no news beyond the next couple of months of coronavirus quarantine, Houston Rockets power forward and well-known sneakerhead P.J. Tucker has given his adopted city a peek at what’s to come. On an Instagram Live Q&A on Saturday, Tucker revealed that he will be opening a sneakers boutique in Houston in the fall, specifically October if the timing works out.

The store already has an Instagram account called @TheBetterGeneration, and Tucker says that he is planning collaborations exclusively for the store.

The 34-year-old veteran is famous among NBA fans for having one of if not the best sneaker collections in the league. As ESPN points out, he first started received props for his shoe choices when he was with the Phoenix Suns; back then, he would rotate through a variety of rare sneakers each night, earning Instagram love and Twitter shout-outs.

Tucker’s move to the higher-profile Rockets coincided with the league allowing players to go wilder with the colorways on their sneakers, and since then, his claim to the title of best sneakerhead in the NBA has only strengthened. With the league on indefinite hiatus due to the pandemic, Tucker now has plenty of time to think of his next batch of sneakers, as well as prepare for the launching of his brick-and-mortar store this fall.

ESPN also noted that Tucker’s newest deal with Nike might allow him to release some of his own custom colorways at the Better Generation store, which would surely drive even more foot traffic among Houstonites.
