Though it was a poor opening weekend for the NFL in terms of television ratings, it was a great first week of play for all of the league’s quarterbacks.

Why’s that?

Well, according to ProFootballTalk, this was the first opening week of the NFL season that no quarterback was seriously injured or benched since 2011. Therefore, Week 2 of the 2020 season will be the first time since 2011 when all 32 quarterbacks who started Week 1 take the field for a second consecutive week.

“For all the concerns that this highly unusual offseason would result in more injuries, if anything the opposite has been true at the league’s most important position: No quarterbacks were injured in the first game this year, and the last time that happened was during the 2011 season, when the offseason was cut short by a work stoppage,” according to PFT.

In addition to being a healthy week for QBs, it was a pretty productive one as well. Week 1’s passing leaders were Matt Ryan (37-of-54, 450 yds, 2 TDs), Aaron Rodgers (32-of-44, 364 yds, 4 TDs), Philip Rivers (36-of-46, 363 yds, 1 TD), Russell Wilson (31-of-35, 322 yds, 4 TDs) and Josh Allen (33-of-46, 312 yds, 2 TDs).

Week 2 of the NFL season will begin tonight with two quarterbacks who both lost in Week 1, Baker Mayfield of the Browns and Joe Burrow of the Bengals, facing off in the Battle of Ohio on Thursday Night Football. Both quarterbacks will have to play better in Week 2, as they scored a combined 19 points last week against the Ravens and Chargers.
