Some of the quickest players in the National Football League will be running in Miami this weekend in the hope of being named the fastest player in the NFL — and winning a million dollars.

Hosted by Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, the 40 Yards of Gold All-Star Speed Tournament will take place on Saturday night at the BB&T Center in Sunrise and be broadcast via pay-per-view.

Featuring players like Ted Ginn Jr., Alvin Kamara, Robby Anderson, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Marquise Goodwin, the event will pit players against each other in head-to-head races to determine who is the fastest. Split into offensive and defensive players to start, the fastest competitors from each group will advance to face each other in a final winner-take-all sprint.

“The way to determine who is the fastest is just to line them up and just go at it and race,” former University of Michigan football players and event creator Alijah Bradley told The Miami Times. “It’s exciting and exhilarating. Fans want to know who the fastest man is. We are bringing something to the world that it has never seen before that blends entertainment, sports and technology.”

“What I love about 40 Yards of Gold is that it includes world-class athletes in a highly competitive situation where the athletes have a lot of passion, and they want to win, you know, as much as they do when they’re on the field playing for their football teams,” Mark Taffet, a consultant who negotiated the broadcast deal for the event, told The Athletic. “This is a concept that is scintillating. Fans will be excited by it. And I think it has enough chance to be an annual event on an ongoing basis, not just in football.”

The race costs $39.95 on pay-per-view.
