Uncut Gems is garnering critical acclaim, but a lot of Adam Sandler fans apparently prefer his, uh, lighter fare. Which explains how the comic’s flick Murder Mystery (currently 45% on Rotten Tomatoes) was Netflix’s most popular release of 2019.

Admittedly, the methodology for determining the streaming service’s most-watched programming was odd. According to CNN, the list was based on the number of subscribers who watched at least two minutes of a series, movie or special during its first 28 days. “We used this metric because this is a ranking, so we’re looking for relativity rather than finite numbers,” a Netflix spokesperson told CNN Business.
