Ready or not, the country is forging ahead with its coronavirus reopening plan, and that includes the return of sex clubs.
The New York Post reports exclusive SoHo sex club New Society For Wellness — abbreviated NSFW, get it? — is preparing to welcome members back for socially distanced fun, but things will look different than they did pre-pandemic. According to the Post, the club has outlined various new rules and guidelines for coronavirus-safe sex.
For one thing, group sex is off the table. Members will only be permitted to have sex with the partner they brought. “We have enough room to give each other space, so we’re asking members to engage in a ‘no new play’ policy, which means come and play with a partner and experience NSFW for the exhibitionist and voyeuristic sides of it,” NSFW founder Daniel Saynt told the Post.
Other new guidelines and safety precautions include temperature checks at the door, wearing a mask and gloves, bringing a separate change of clean clothes, and using sanitation stations throughout the 3,000-square-foot clubhouse, which offer hand sanitizers and toy cleaners. The club is also only allowing 20 members in at a time, just 10 percent of the space’s capacity.
The coronavirus was slow to halt sex party culture early on, with elite sex party promoters Snctm making headlines back in March for refusing to call off planned events even as much less intimate social gatherings were canceled ahead of mandatory lockdown orders. Now sex clubs, which seem somewhat at odds with the entire pandemic-era culture of social distance, are trying to make an early return.
“We had to figure out how to do this in the safest way possible, where no one feels at risk or in danger, but can still enjoy themselves,” said Saynt.
In the meantime, whether you’re itching to get back into your favorite sex club or just wondering when it’s safe to start hooking up with Tinder matches again, the New York City Health Department has some advice.
