According to TMZ, legendary Hollywood comedian Carl Reiner died on Monday night in Beverly Hills with his family by his side at the age of 98.
His assistant Judy Nagy confirmed to Variety that Reiner died of natural causes.
Reiner, who has more than 400 IMDB credits to his name, found success as an actor, director, writer, producer and recording artist over a career that lasted more than seven decades.
The winner of nine Emmy Awards (three as an actor, four as a writer and two as a producer), Reiner received the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor back in 2000 and also won a Grammy Award for his 2,000 Year Old Man album, which was based on his comedy routine with Mel Brooks.
A native of the Bronx, Reiner worked on Broadway before making the move to Hollywood to write, produce and perform in movies and television programs as well as create The Dick Van Dyke Show.
In a recent photo that was taken at a party to celebrate Brooks’s 94th birthday on June 28, Reiner, his daughter Annie and the birthday boy were seen sporting Black Lives Matter t-shirts.
