And the nominees for the 69th Annual Emmy Awards are….

The contenders for the most prestigious prize in the television industry were unveiled Thursday morning — and with Game of Thrones not eligible to rampage through the major drama categories like a horde of Dothraki, it seems a wide open field.

In the absence of Thrones, the drama series honorees are dominated by freshmen hits Westworld, The Crown, This Is Us, Stranger Things, and Handmaid’s Tale.

For the outstanding comedy series race, perennial Television Academy favorites Modern Family and Veep and Transparent are all back for another shot at a statuette.

The winner of the 2017 Emmy Awards will be revealed on Sunday, Sept. 17, from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony, hosted by Stephen Colbert, will air live on CBS.
