New Face of Dior Homme Is Hip-Hop’s Best-Dressed Star, A$AP Rocky

French fashion house Dior has pulled out all the stops for its Autumn/Winter 2016-2017 campaign, partnering with four internationally renowned faces to front its campaign. A$AP Rocky, Larry Clark, Rod Paradot, and Dylan Roques have been signed on as ambassadors, all from very different backgrounds, to capture the spirit of the new Dior Homme seasonal collection. It channels a free, rebellious spirit, borrowing codes from the world of skateboarding. Whether urban-, chic-, sophisticated-, or streetwear-inspired, the pieces reflect the multiple facets of the Dior Homme clothing line.
While A$AP Rocky may seem like an odd choice, the Harlem, N.Y.–based rapper has grown into a high-fashion connoisseur, often wearing labels like Hermes, Karl Lagerfeld, and Rick Owens. As if being the face of the Dior Homme campaign didn’t solidify it, the musician landed on GQ‘s Most Stylish Man Alive list three years in a row. Matthew Henson, Rocky’s stylist, says the hip-hop star starts with fashion pieces he likes and works from there, instead of gearing for a particular style. “He looks fly in his Lanvin and vintage Jean Paul Gaultier sunglasses, and he can throw on a hoodie from Palace Skateboards and still be the best-dressed in the room. The building blocks are a great jacket, a well-fitting pant, and ‘rare—very rare,’ as he would say—footwear,” Henson told Vogue.
Whether he’s in the studio or on the red carpet, A$AP Rocky consistently has a style to emulate. While browsing some of Rocky’s best looks, listen to his song “Every Day,” featuring Rod Stewart, below (warning: his lyrics are not safe for work). At the bottom of the piece, gain further insight into the artist’s fashion sense by watching him shop in one of Los Angeles’ top designer boutiques in a video interview with Complex magazine. —with additional reporting by Relaxnews
