The wife of ESPN icon Chris Berman died in a two-car crash in Connecticut on Tuesday, the New York Post reports.

Katherine Ann Berman, 67, and the other driver, Edward Bertulis, 87, were both killed in the crash. Deadspin reports that Berman’s 2003 Lexis SC 430 rear-ended Bertulis’ Ford, before going down an embankment and overturning in a pond.

“This is a devastating tragedy and difficult to comprehend,” ESPN President John Skipper said in a statement.

“Chris is beloved by all his ESPN colleagues and for good reason: he has a huge heart and has given so much to so many over the years. We know how much his family means to him and all we can do at a moment like this is give him the love and support he will surely need at this hour. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris, Meredith, Doug and the entire family.”

Berman, who recently stepped back after serving as the face of ESPN’s football coverage for more than thirty years to take a smaller role with the network, was notified by the NYPD while at the Mets-Giants game at Citi Field on Tuesday.

The couple, who were married for 33 years, have two children, Meredith and Douglas.
