A Closer Look at Mick Ronson, David Bowie’s Legendary Guitarist and Sideman
Watch the trailer for the upcoming documentary 'Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story.'
“It seems amazing, really, that Ziggy and the Spiders were only together for about 18 months, but there’s no doubt in my mind that the collaboration made for one of the best of its time.” So says the late David Bowie of his guitarist/sideman extraordinaire, Mick Ronson, in the trailer for Beside Bowie: The Mick Ronson Story, a rock documentary focusing on the late guitarist’s career.
Ronson, with his tight harmony vocals and guitar heroics—not to mention, stage presence—helped “make” The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, arguably one of the greatest rock albums of all time and Bowie’s gem.
Ronson’s work would also appear on The Man Who Sold the World, Hunky Dory, Aladdin Sane, and Pinups, as well as a number of other albums, including Lou Reed’s Transformer and Bob Dylan’s Hard Rain.
