Eat, drink, eat again and be merry

If you’re a pro at lifting a knife and fork, we’ve got a place for you to raise ‘em high.

The New York City Wine and Food Festival returns and kicks off October 12th — tickets on sale here — and the roster is jam-packed.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the three-day culinary extravaganza features 100+ events for eating and drink exceptionally well, covering everything from BBQ to breakfast for dinner.

Herein, a practical guide to the festival’s can’t-miss attractions, including a party for pork lovers co-hosted by yours truly. Plus: some hands-on entertainment and where to unbuckle the belt and rest up each night.

Because going back for seconds? Strongly encouraged.

EAT
Grand Tasting  presented by ShopRite
If you can only hit one event, make it this soiree. It’s 130,000 square feet of some of the best bites from NYC and the world over, with demonstrations from the likes of Hannah Hart, Andrew Zimmern and more. (10/14)

Backyard BBQ presented by National Beef hosted by Andrew Zimmern and Pat LaFrieda
Only in NY would a Pier 52 rooftop bash be considered a backyard. But we’re sold. Gettin’ messy whilst taking in the cityscape is the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon and close out the fest. (10/15)

Late Night Sandwich Eggs-stragavanza hosted by Alvin Cailan of Eggslut
Eggslut is a very big deal for a very good reason — they never disappoint, especially where breakfast-for-dinner is concerned. Plus, you’ll be sipping on creative bloody marys and mimosas to boot. (10/14)

DRINK
Tacos & Tequila
Was there ever a match more clearly made in heaven? You’ll be going well into the late night with  “taco aficionado” Aarón Sánchez, which is a title we are certainly envious of. (10/12)

Pigs & Pints
Okay, maybe there were two matches made in heaven of said caliber. One of the fest’s most popular events for obvious reason, you’ll be chowing and chugging with Chef Robert Irvine at the Standard’s Biergarten. Best part? We’re co-hosting. (10/14)

Rooftop Rose at the Standard
Because we weren’t quite ready for summer to end either. (10/15)

DO
New Recipes for Old World Jewish Food
Strap on the apron and open the mind, because borscht and gefilte fish are going indie with Liz Alpern and Jeffrey Yoskowitz. It’s an homage to preserving iconic deli eats, but for tomorrow’s palettes. (10/15)

Butchering Class with White Gold Butchers
How to pick your cuts and piece ‘em down like a pro. If you don’t know you’re way around a slab of meat yet … it’s time, sir. (10/15)

Rooftop Iron Chef Showdown: Battle Autumn Bounty
Here’s your chance to step inside Kitchen Stadium. Iron Chef Showdown comes live to Pier 92 rooftop as 30 chefs compete for the throne, but with a twist: you’ll be the judge. Sample all the entrants while Food Network’s Iron Chefs and host Alton Brown preside.  (10/14)

STAY
Hudson New York
Midtown
NYWFF’s headquarters, the Hudson is centrally located with a sky terrace and private park for when you need a little peace ‘n’ quiet from running to and from all the festivities.

Viceroy Central Park
Midtown West
Boutique in feel, but business class in service, the Viceroy is a taste of NYC, minus the urban inconveniences.

Kimpton Ink48
Hell’s Kitchen
You may wanna relax after a day of indulgence, and that’s what’s the spa at Kimpton Ink48 is for. Book something early and you’ll be ready to go another round.
