Giving a man socks for the holidays is a cliché for a reason.

Namely, we love it. Especially as we get older.

That said, too few people take the task of giving a pair of socks seriously. To be a great sock gifter, you must first know your socks: Fabrics. Patterns. Textures. Colors. This is no one-size-fits-all matter.

So we recruited the help of Sage Disch, co-founder of premium hosiery company Ace & Everett, for a few tips on the art of knowing one sock from the next. Watch the video above, commit his tips to memory, and go forth a more enlightened sock-giver.
