Good news for stuck-at-home globetrotters: You can possibly add Amsterdam (and the rest of the Netherlands) back on your travel itinerary.
Delta and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines just announced a plan that would allow U.S. visitors who fly from Atlanta to Amsterdam to receive an exemption from quarantine on arrival if they get a series of negative COVID-19 test results before and upon arrival in the Netherlands.
These flights, scheduled for a three-week trial starting this month, will operate four times per week.
There are a lot of caveats here to get around the required 10 days of post-arrival quarantine. Passengers will need to complete a negative PCR test five days before their trip and self-isolate until departure (so everyone is kind of quarantining, just not when upon arrival to Amsterdam). Then, they’ll take a rapid antigen test prior to boarding at the Atlanta airport. Finally, they’ll receive a third (PCR) test at Schiphol airport.
As well, the offer is limited to citizens permitted to travel for essential purposes (which means work, health and education reasons only).
