A good roadhouse needs only a few simple things: cold beer, stick-to-your-ribs eats, quality tunes, and a staff that’s nice … until it’s time not to be nice.
Presenting a roadhouse with everything but Dalton: Pork Slope, a brilliantly punny “Brooklyn Roadhouse” cheffed by a Jean Georges and Morimoto protege, opening on what would’ve been Patrick Swayze’s 60th birthday, a.k.a. tomorrow night.
Pork Slope’s where you’d take the fellas, or an agreeably low-maintenance lady friend – the lighting’s neon, the walls boast stuffed boar heads and dartboards, and the pool table runs on quarters.
The wall-mounted letterboard menu is littered with down home goodness like St. Louis ribs, fried chicken, and shrimp po’ boys. In other words, bar food – in a bar run by a guy who also happens to be a Top Chef All Star. (stomach rumblin’? view the menu)
And since no good bar fight ever broke out without a little liquid courage, Pork Slope’s barkeeps are dishing out small-batch whiskeys, plus 25 draft beers from craft brewers like Lagunitas and Sixpoint, plus ice cold cans of Pork Slap.
Which has a bite, but pain don’t hurt.
