Business travelers and vacation-goers have to deal with flight delays, and some of them don’t do a very good job of handling the stress that goes along with the checked baggage.
But The New York Times has provided at least one way of coping: mindful meditation.
For those who think meditation is for silk-pants-wearing, mountain-sitting gurus, it’s actually been scientifically proven to be, in and of itself, like a restorative vacation. It can also make you smarter. (There’s an app for that, too.)
San Diego–based meditation teacher Melissa Eisler told the Times, “The first thing is to recognize that stressing about flight delays won’t help you get back on schedule.” She suggests closing your eyes and visualizing a “best-case scenario” version of your flight and arrival, and letting go of the anger of having missed it.
