Adidas Gave These ’70s Runners a Modern Facelift

The I-5923 is a superior spring sneaker

One great aspect of spring/summer footwear is you can spend less and stock up on more styles. A great pair of boots retails in the $250-400 range, and won’t leave your feet much from Thanksgiving to St. Patrick’s Day, but the months ahead are a chance to mix and match various styles of sneakers, usually at $100 or less.

Every shoe rack should have a couple pairs of canvas sneaks for casual afternoons, a pair of training sneaks for breaking a sweat, and ideally one that could do both. We like Adidas’ I-5923 Sneaker for that role. The silhouette is inspired by the company’s ’70s runners, and it honors that original style in a laidback way, while ironically boasting far more tech. Each shoe has the same Boost midsole and breathable mesh lining that Adidas puts in its performance trainers.

Need Supply has the I-5923’s in an white/grey color scheme that will go with any outfit, currently priced down to $103.

If white/grey’s a little dull for you, you can also find the I-5923 in a range of colors via Adidas’ site. The deals are even better (priced all the way down to $65 on some), but sizing is a little suspect. Your best bet is probably this style in green/red, which is stocked from 8-12 with half sizes available.
