Two bird-themed NFL teams entered Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field this afternoon, each one seeking a chance to advance in the playoffs. In the end, it was the ones who had flown the furthest who found that their journey was not yet at an end. The Seattle Seahawks took an early lead over the Philadelphia Eagles and held on through the game’s final moments.
In the end, their 17-9 victory would propel them onward to a game against the Green Bay Packers next weekend.
Philadelphia’s roster was already bearing the impact of several injuries, and that was before Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz left the game with a head injury in the first half. Backup quarterback Josh McCown had a solid enough game, but it wasn’t enough to pull his team into the lead. For some observers, that the Eagles kept the game close at all was satisfying on its own.
The #Eagles, led by a 40 year old QB, without RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, WR3, starting RT and RG.
Oh, and Ertz 14 days removed from a lacerated Kidney, gave the #Seahawks all they could handle!!
A lot of teams sat at home today. The Eagles fought.#FlyEaglesFly

As for the Seahawks, quarterback Russell Wilson and wide receiver D.K. Metcalf both had standout games. This included a fantastic play, in which Wilson connected with Metcalf for a 53-yard touchdown reception, wherein Metcalf looked absolutely unstoppable as he made his way for the end zone.
D.K. Metcalf makes the catch, gets back up and crosses the goal line for the TD! @dkm14 @DangeRussWilson
The @Seahawks now lead, 17-6. #NFLPlayoffs

While the Seahawks ultimately won the game, both teams have plenty that they can take pride in; in a season of well-balanced playoff games, this matchup continued that tradition.
