Due to what allegedly happened early Saturday morning at a nightclub at The Cromwell Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was arrested after playing in the Pro Bowl on Sunday.

According to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department booking report that was obtained by, officers were dispatched to a local hospital on Saturday evening after a patient with an orbital fracture on his right eye reported being battered outside of a nightclub elevator at The Cromwell at approximately 6:30 a.m. that morning. Darnell Greene told officers that he was waiting for an elevator along with a group of people that included Kamara and was prevented from entering the elevator by the NFL player when the door opened.

“Greene said he pushed Kamara’s hand off his chest and then was pushed hard causing himself to stumble,” per “Greene said he was then punched and kicked by multiple people and lost consciousness. He identified Kamara as one of the men who battered him.”

Somehow, even though surveillance video was obtained that verified Greene’s account, Kamara wasn’t interviewed or taken into custody by police until Sunday evening after he played in the Pro Bowl, which took place approximately 24 hours after police interviewed Greene at the hospital.

Kamara, who had four catches for 23 yards for the NFC in the game, was interviewed by police inside the bowels of Allegiant Stadium and then taken into custody and booked at the Clark County Detention Center on charges of battery resulting in substantial bodily harm. According to the police report, Kamara told police that he threw a couple of punches but wasn’t sure if he punched Greene while he was on the ground.

A 26-year-old star who was selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Kamara had 898 yards rushing, 439 yards receiving and nine total touchdowns in the 2021 season for the Saints. The first Las Vegas edition of the NFL’s annual All-Star game was Kamara’s fifth Pro Bowl, whether he should’ve played in it or not.

In the game itself, Justin Herbet of the Chargers hit Baltimore tight end Mark Andrews with two touchdown passes to lead the AFC to a 41-35 victory over the NFC. The AFC has won five consecutive Pro Bowls since the league returned to a conference format in the 2016-17 season. The winners took home $80,000 apiece, while the losers got $40,000 each.

Either amount would’ve been enough for Kamara, who is due in court Monday, to cover his $5,000 bail.
