Fallon Sherrock made history at Alexandra Palace in London on Tuesday by becoming the first woman to beat a man at the PDC men’s World Darts Championship.
Sherrock, who was trailing two sets to one, battled back to take a 3-2 victory over Ted Evetts. The 25-year-old hit six 180s and landed a 91.12 average during her first-round win.

“I’m speechless, I don’t know what to say,” Sherrock said on stage after her win, according to The Guardian. “I feel really happy because I have proven something for women’s darts, that women can play the men and beat them, so fingers crossed this is a move in the right direction. I’m over the moon, I can’t believe it!”

The PDC men’s World Championship features 96 players each year and there are two spots reserved for women who can make it through a qualification pathway.
Sherrock locked up her spot in this year’s competition by winning the qualifying event for the U.K. and Ireland.
Thanks to the win, Sherrock will face off against No. 11 seed Mensur Suljovic on Saturday in the second round of the championship.
Female Japanese player Mikuru Suzuki, who won the British Darts Organization’s women’s world title in January, nearly won her match at the PDC World Championship on Sunday.
