This summer, the Miami Dolphins are inviting their fans to go to the movies. The team has announced that they will be launching an outdoor drive-in theater that can accommodate up to 230 cars inside Hard Rock Stadium as well as a smaller open-air theater on the complex’s south plaza that can host groups.
The theaters will show classic movies, and fans will have the ability to order food and drinks and have them delivered using an online payment system. In addition to showing movies, the theaters will play “classic Dolphins content” and concerts as well as celebrate 2020 graduates.
We are excited to announce an open-air and drive-in theater that will showcase classic @MiamiDolphins content, classic films, host commencement ceremonies and more.
These experiences will stay in accordance with social distance policies.

“We’ve spent several weeks planning this to be able to provide people with a safe option to go out,” Hard Rock Stadium CEO Tom Garfinkel said in a press release. “It’s a fundamental human need to physically experience and celebrate events and experiences together, and we’re trying to provide options for everyone where they can be safely socially distant and socially present at the same time.”
An opening date has not been announced yet, but interested parties can sign up for updates here.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said Tuesday on CNBC there will “definitely” be a football season this fall and that the NFL plans to have fans in the stands. Having them in cars inside his stadium appears to be a step in that direction.
