Arizona Diamondbacks’ Archie Bradley Jr. Becomes First Reliever to Hit Triple in Postseason History

Pitcher, called 'MVP of the team' by D-Backs broadcaster Tom Candiotti, tripled home two runs.

Now, that’s something you don’t see all that often. Actually, never.

In last night’s NL wild-card game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, D-Backs reliever Archie Bradley Jr.—whom broadcaster Tom Candiotti told RealClearLife was “MVP of the team” in a recent story—became the first relief pitcher in Major League Baseball history to hit a triple in a postseason game. It wasn’t any old triple, though; Bradley knocked in a pair of runs, giving his team the insurance they needed to get the win and move on to the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

As SB Nation notes, Bradley came to the plate last night hitting a putrid 6-for-61, and his triple was one of four by the D-Backs in the game—the most hit in a postseason game since 1903.

As you know, the baseball gods giveth and taketh away, as Bradley immediately gave up a pair of back-to-back home runs to the Rockies in the following inning.
