Watch the Northern Lights While Plunging Into a Frozen Lake

Off the Map offers a cool twist to your travel bucket list

It’s on most bucket lists. Journey to the gates of the Arctic Circle; pick a clear night for the sky’s longest-running kaleidoscopic concert …

And jump into a frozen lake?

That’s at least what’s on offer with the Northern Lights tour from UK-based luxury adventure company Off the Map Travel. The tour — which takes place in Rovaniemi, Finland — allows visitors to lean back in the ever-relaxing environs of sub-arctic water as they scan the heavens for those famous red, blues and greens.

Now, assuming you’re a rational person, this might not seem like a good idea. But you’ll be outfitted in a “head-to-toe high-quality rescue suit” meant to help you float, and keep all your limbs after it’s over. The full tour package also includes a double suite at the Arctic Treehouse Hotel.

It’s worth noting: Rovaniemi is the official home of Santa Claus. So you’ll wanna be on your best bevavior.
