The track beast is back. Just unveiled at the Geneva Motor show, the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 has Porsche purists everywhere rejoicing.

Because while the 2014 911 GT3 may have had that unmistakable Porsche rumble, there were some glaring oversights. Namely, a manual gearbox.

But the 2018 911 GT3 ushers an old/new era with its 4.0-liter flat six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with — it’s true — a six-speed manual available.

Good on you, Porsche.

And if you’re palms weren’t sweating already just looking at the two-seater, we’ll let you know it’s gunning with 500 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque, said to tick 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and top out at 198 mph. Of note, you’re also ogling around $144,650.

But there are more advantages to owning a manual than just pure, visceral, teeth-grinding fun. This lucky chap will be the first to tell you.
