How do you age well?
Ask Brad Pitt.
Better yet, ask the man who dresses him.
That man is Blaine Halvorson.
He runs MadeWorn, a by-appointment-only menswear emporium in Fairfax-Melrose that — should you get in the door — will blow your mind.
We couldn’t take pictures when we toured the 12,000-square-foot space last week (secrecy is an intrinsic part of owner Blaine Halvorson’s foray into “experiential retail”), but we do have a preview of his wares.
These are not ordinary garments.
They are one-of-a-kind bags, boots, tops and bottoms, all hand-tooled onsite and then subjected to unorthodox styling processes (hand looming, tattooing, interment) until deemed worthy of the MadeWorn label.
Tattooed pigskin duffels. Weathered suits of a Tom Waits-ian ilk. Gothically engraved Rolexes.
But quality is only half the equation here. It’s the experience.
All is magical, and all is for sale.
