Advice for buying home speakers?
Make ‘em pop. With color.
Urbanears, the Stockholm-based audio company best known for making an array of colorful ear- and headphones, just launched their first line of connected smart speakers.
Their selling point? They look as good as they sound.
Minimalist yet colorful, the specs here are what you’d expect from a modern connected speaker: You can sync up with pretty much any music streaming service (Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, etc.). It works via AirPlay, Bluetooth, Chromecast or an auxiliary cord. And you can connect two or more of the Urbanears to create stereo/surround sound in one room, or have different playlists running in different rooms.
It’s easy to set up and use: all your controls are done through either an app (which doubles as an equalizer) or two twist/push buttons on the top panel, giving the speakers a nice tactile component. There are seven presets available so you can flip between your favorite playlists or Internet radio stations.
The $450 Urbanears Baggen is targeting larger spaces at home, while the smaller $350 Stammen speaker works best for studio apartments and bedrooms. Both speakers, wrapped in transparent fabric, are available in six different colors: Dirty Pink, Vinyl Black, Plant Green, Concrete Grey, Goldfish Orange and Indigo Blue.
Both speakers launch March 30th.
