You’ve got your smart wifi router. Your smart sound system. Your smart fridge.
And finally, you have an equally smart remote to rule them all.
The Smart Remote from Sevenhugs allows users to interact with any “smart” device via a touchscreen interface by simply pointing and clicking. Already compatible with Nest, Philips Hue and Sonos, the completely customizable remote is universal and can be equipped to interact with any device with a “brain” via a proprietary app.
The gadget — which the French home-tech startup calls the “world’s first contextual remote control” — uses recognition and location software to identify which device it’s being pointed at, so there’s never a need to manually switch anything yourself … except, possibly, the channel.
The remote is supposed to come to market in September, and all indications are it’s going to cost somewhere south of $200. If you want it at half price, all you have to do is sign up.
Once it learns how to find itself under couch cushions, all our problems will be solved.
