Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of them. Today: Harley Davidson’s new eBike, a sparkling citrus refresher from Boston Beer Co. and an Ikepod dive watch.
Serial 1 Mosh/Tribute
Mosh/Tribute is a limited-edition release of Harley-Davidson’s ebike, which was launched last October only as a prototype. Now it’s a reality, although they’re keeping production of this bike — which aims to resemble an early Harley motorcycle — down to a few hundred.
Tentree Treeline Canvas Jacket
It’s fall style season, which means you’re stuck trying to decide where you’ll spend your jacket budget. Sustainability-minded brand Tentree has a full slate of options as part of their new Essential Outerwear Collection, but the piece we’re most intrigued by is this Treeline Canvas Jacket, which is touted as 99% compostable. That’s because it’s made of a textile that uses fiber from the dried fruit of the kapok tree. Apparently, all you have to do is remove the buttons when you’re done and this thing will go back to nature. That is certainly worth a spot in your outerwear arsenal.
Bevy Long Drink
The Long Drink was commissioned by the Finnish government in 1952 before the Olympic games in Helsinki. There, it’s a gin, grapefruit and tonic. Here, we’ve already had one successful ready-to-drink (RTD) variation, and now Boston Beer Co. is coming out with their own. Available in November in two flavors (Sparkling Citrus Refresher and Sparkling Berry Refresher), this buzzy variation won’t have actual spirits, but will utilize citrus flavors and wild juniper berries.
Stan Smith Prime Green Limited-Edition Spikeless Golf Shoes
In honor of the best golfers from Europe and America going head-to-head in Wisconsin this weekend, Adidas has designed a limited-edition Stan Smith golf shoe that pays tribute to the black-and-white cows that supply the milk that America’s Dairyland is known for. Supplies are very limited, so act fast if you want these spikeless kicks, which are made with Primegreen, a series of high-performance recycled materials.
Sjömärke
We don’t know how to pronounce it either, but IKEA’s new wireless charger can be mounted under a table (wood or plastic only) or desk so you can surreptitiously power up your phone.
Hendrick’s Gin and Katz’s Delicatessen Gin-Inspired Pickled Cucumbers
Finished during a two-step brining process that takes more than three days to complete, the limited-edition Hendrick’s Gin and Katz’s Delicatessen Gin-Inspired Pickled Cucumbers are the first-ever collab between the famed Scottish distillery and iconic NYC deli. Crafted with a recipe including whole juniper berries and cubeb berries, the half-sour pickles will start shipping nationwide for a limited time beginning on September 27. To sign up for the launch, head here.
The Forgotten First
Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, along with Bob Glauber, profiles four Black players (Kenny Washington, Woody Strode, Marion Motley and Bill Willis) who broke the NFL color barrier in the ‘40s, up to a year before Jackie Robinson did the same in the MLB.
Ikepod Seapod Dive Watches
Ikepod watches aren’t for everyone. But they are most certainly for a certain eccentric corner of the watch world, which is why the Marc Newson-founded brand found a second life. Today, they offer some retooled versions of their classics, and now a diver-style version of the UFO silhouette called the Seapod. There are three versions available, an all-black, one with orange accents and one with blue accents and a matching blue silicone strap. That’s the main differentiator as they all feature 46mm cases, 200 meters of water resistance and automatic Miyota movements.
Turbo Vado 5.0
Part of Specialized’s growing lineup of premium electric bikes, the next-generation Turbo Vado offers riders a smooth trip to work or play without breaking a sweat. Offering a number of different e-boost options to allow riders to pedal as much, or as little, as they want the Vado has a fully removable battery to make charging a breeze and can also be linked with Specialized’s Mission Control app so disabling the motor to render the bike useless for would-be thieves is a cinch.
Todd Snyder Japanese Down Quilted Snap Bomber in Orange
Available in three colors — although we favor the orange — this decidedly cool puffer is based on a vintage mountaineer’s jacket from the 1960s. Now, it features a diamond-quilted Japanese nylon, a down filling, gun metal buttons and ribbed cuffs and collars.
Bud Light Tailgate Candle
Made of a soy wax blend and with cotton wicks and notes of “smoked charcoal, a new jersey and crowded bleachers,” this is the official candle of tailgating. Burn this guy on game night at home and drum up all the feels that come with sitting in the parking lot outside of the stadium on a cool fall day while enjoying a crispy boy.
Rowing Blazers by Jack Carlson
The Blazers are back, baby! Well, Rowing Blazers, to be exact. RB Founder Jack Carlson’s captivating ode to all things preppy has returned to print after more than a year, and believe us when we say it was worth the wait. The hardcover photobook is chock full of ivy-centric imagery, exquisite detail, and of course, the instantly distinguishable Rowing Blazer ethos. Rowing Blazers deserve a spot in the sitting room of your sprawling New England estate, for sure, or at least on your coffee table.
